Description:
Gorst Air Transport operated between Seattle and Ketchikan in 1929 only, using the tideflats along Stedman Street as a landing strip. Karl Berg, then about 80, was preparing to travel to the "States". He was one of the first passengers and displays an Alaska (territorial) flag, a gift from the Ketchikan Legionnaires. Pictured are (left to right) Jack Talbot, A. E. "Tony" Karnes, Peder Berg, Art Bartholomew, Ralph A. Bartholomew, and Phillip Elliot. This aircraft made the second non-stop flight from the lower 48 to Alaska.
