Description:
Mike learned about flying from his father, Pete Cessnun, who along with Jim Webber and Don Ross, started Webber Air, an air taxi and flight training school. Pete bought out his partners and operated Webber Air as an air taxi until he retired in 1973. Mike started as a freight boy at Webber and after high school earned a private pilot's license. He earned his flight engineer ticket and rating and a degree in aviation from Southeast Oklahoma State.

At age 23, Mike began flying for Alaska Airlines. In 1984, at the age of 27, Mike was promoted to Captain. At the time, he was one of the youngest Captains employed by Alaska Airlines. Mike made a career at Alaska Airlines including 15 years as a flight instructor, providing specialized training on Southeast Alaska. After 30 years and 30,000 flight hours with Alaska Airlines, he retired in 2010.
