Description:
The activities on the airfield taken during the search of a missing plane is reminiscent of the war years with early morning flights of nearly 20 planes taking off and returning on their search missions. Co-coordinating the departure and arrival of planes to the field, the control tower is manned with Civil Aeronautics Authority (CAA) and U.S. Coast Guard personnel. On duty above are (left to right): Marvin Rabinowitz, USCG aviation radioman 3rd class, Robert Adams, CAA controller and Frank Killins, CAA assistant controller.
