Description:
Main School, originally built in 1905 and rebuilt in 1924, provided education for generations of Ketchikan's children. Growth due to the Ketchikan Pulp Mill led to the opening of Ketchikan High School in 1954 but kindergarten through eighth grade studied at the Main School until 1973. The building burned down in 1975.
