BOOM TOWN : Ketchikan in the 1950s
Title:
Dammit the Donkey at Thomas Basin Rooms, December 1951
Photographer:
Paulu T. Saari
Description:
As a surprise, some prankster left the donkey in his friend's 2nd floor digs at Thomas Basin Rooms. That was easy. Not so easy was getting Dammit back down the stairs. That part was left to Tuck Zaruba, left; Jack Seybolt, building owner, center; and an unidentified man. According to June Allen, they did it by putting the reluctant animal on a mattress and "sledding" him down.
