Then & Now : A community photography exhibit connecting Ketchikan's past to the present through the recreation of historic photos
Title:
Students
Description:
"We included the Alaska flag, which came into being in 1927, a brick from the capitol in Juneau; and a copy of the Alaska State Constitution, which was ratified in 1956 and activated upon statehood in 1959. We noted that our class features more diversity than that of the class of 1908. We discussed that the Territorial Legislature was organized in 1912, and one of their first acts was to integrate Alaska's schools. Mrs. Stone sent home permission slips for parents to sign, and Kelli Carlin—Auger activated our School Messenger system to notify parents. School communication has changed dramatically since 1908, and we noted the modern necessity of protecting students in photos."
