Nathan Corbett
Tsimshian and Unangax̂ (Sugpiaq), Kitsumkalum, Gispwudwada (Killerwhale), House of Wiidildal (Great Echo House)

This drum is made of deer hide stretched over a steamed yellow cedar rim and held with sinew. The drum is painted with 'The Eagle that Came Down from Heaven' design, which Nathan created for his daughter Jade's regalia. The drumstick is made of yellow cedar and the handle is carved with an eagle design. Nathan learned these skills through classes at the Totem Heritage Center, including a Drum Making class with instructor Ken Decker and Northwest Coast Design classes with Instructors David Boxley and Jack Hudson in the 1990s.
"My daughter Jade was born the year I made her drum and design. 'The Eagle that Came Down from Heaven' design was created for Jade's dance robe and other regalia. Jade's drumstick has an eagle head on the handle, Jades moiety. Jade has been using this drum since before she could walk."
