Instructor Student Case 2023
Description:
Chilkat Pouch, 2023
Tad Kyaanaang, Bianca Adams
Haida, Sgalandaas Clan

This Chilkat pouch is made with Merino wool, yellow cedar bark, and trimmed with sea otter fur. It was started during the Introduction to Chilkat Weaving class taught by Dorica Jackson in 2019, continued during the Beginning Chilkat Weaving class taught by Dorica in 2022, and completed in 2023.
"I started this Chilkat pouch in the 2019 in the Totem Heritage Center class with Dorica Jackson. It is the first Chilkat weaving I've done. I used hand spun Chilkat warp that was made in another of Dorica's classes. It took a couple years, but the pouch was finished this year. I look forward to future projects."
