History Afloat: Voices from the Working Waterfront
Tessa Frost, Fisheries Biologist at Southern
Southeast Regional Aquaculture Association
Tessa Frost is a fisheries biologist at the Southern Southeast Regional Aquaculture Association (SSRAA). SSRAA is one of two regional aquaculture associations in Southeast Alaska and operates three fish hatcheries in the Ketchikan area: Deer Mountain Hatchery, Neets Bay Hatchery, and Whitman Lake Hatchery. Tessa developed a deep appreciation for salmon growing up on the waters of Southeast Alaska. Inspired by her father's career as a biologist for the Alaska Department of Fish & Game, Tessa decided to pursue a career in fisheries management. She completed her Masters degree in Fisheries Biology from the University of Alaska Fairbanks in 2018.
