Cowlitz
This drum is made of deer hide stretched over a wood rim and held with sinew. The drum is painted with the "Barry Family Spirit" design, which Barry created as a representation of her family. The drum was created during the Drum Making and Design class taught by Nahum gaax, Kevin Clevenger, in 2024.
"I'm of Cowlitz descent, which is why you may notice a Coast Salish influence in the design. The moon in the center is a self-portrait, while the salmon inside the crescent represents my husband of 12 years. The larger and very expressive salmon egg represents my first-born child, my daughter, who is also very creative, while the smaller silly salmon egg represents my youngest child, my son. The shining stars represents our bright future."- Spring Moon Barry
