BOOM TOWN : Ketchikan in the 1950s
Title:
Sunny Point Cannery, April 28, 1954
Photographer:
Paulu T. Saari
Description:
Sunny Point Packing Company built this complex in 1923. It was always known locally as the "Sunny Point" cannery, but it was operated by several packing companies over the years. It was demolished in 1980 to make way for the Ketchikan shipyard.

Four floating fish traps are moored next to the cannery. The traps were usually towed to protected anchorages for storage and maintenance after the fishing season.
