Description:
Ketchikan Daily News article, November 12, 1952
"Laundromat Opens Friday
Bill Easton announced today that the last of the equipment for his new enterprise arrived here on the Coastal Rambler Monday, and that the Laundromat will open Friday morning. The equipment which has caused the latest delay in his opening was two Westinghouse Aldry dryers. Twelve Laundromat washers arrived about ten days ago and have been installed for several days.
Easton stated that he started work on the project last January, and the intervening time has been spent working through RFC red tape, shipping strikes, and shortage of metals needed in the manufacture of the type of equipment he wanted.
Full consideration for the comfort of his customers has been given, with overstuffed chairs and sofas to rest on while bundles are going through the wash. A self-help coffee and soda counter will be in operation at all times.
On opening day, Easton announced, coffee will be served free to all customers and visitors."
