"Waterfront Hightway Bids Opened
The scene above shows a portion of the new Waterfront highway, bids for which were opened in Juneau recently. The improvement will include a 275-foot tunnel (broken line) starting at Grant and Front Streets to the present site of Gaffney's store on Water Street. Water Street will be widened (solid line) from the tunnel to opposite the Civic center on the hill side. The water side will be widened cutting the Civic center diagonally 25 feet Kennedy Street."
