"For over 100 years, Pioneers of Alaska, Women's Igloo #7 has served as an important social and civic organization for the Ketchikan community. Women's Igloo #7 is part of a statewide organization. Pioneers of Alaska seeks to preserve the names and memories of its members, collect Alaska history and promote the best interests of the State. Ketchikan's Igloo #7 members do several projects including: maintaining the Pioneers of Alaska Memorial Garden at Bayview Cemetery, awarding scholarships for graduating seniors seeking higher education, presenting a Memorial Day service honoring our departed Pioneers, providing an annual holiday monetary gift to every Pioneer Home resident and giving birthday parties for Pioneer Home residents. Membership is open to women and men (Igloo #16) who have lived in Alaska for 20 years or more." — Michele Zerbetz Scott
