Then & Now : A community photography exhibit connecting Ketchikan's past to the present through the recreation of historic photos
Title:
In His Father's Footsteps
Description:
"In 1945, my husband Anthony de la Rosa from Mechanicville, NY, was in the Coast Guard stationed at Adak assigned to the USS Orlando (PF—99). He spoke often of his visits to Ketchikan and the wonderfully ornate and interesting totem poles. In July 2015, my son and I chose a cruise to see what had so fascinated my husband. Anthony (Tony) died in 2011 but Philip and I were thrilled to be able to recreate a Then & Now photo in his memory on our visit to Ketchikan. It was such an emotional experience. Philip even proposed to his longtime girlfriend in Saxman and she accepted!" — Diana de la Rosa
