Then & Now : A community photography exhibit connecting Ketchikan's past to the present through the recreation of historic photos
Title:
Tourists at Ketchikan Creek
Description:
"The photo resonated with me because I could relate to the sense of wonderment I experienced when I first arrived in Ketchikan (I still experience it!). The photo also represents two of the major industries in Ketchikan, fishing and tourism, which are so important to our community. I chose this particular location because it is a popular spot for tourists to shop and watch the salmon swimming up the creek. I asked a few friends to show up as well and fill in as their best recreation of a modern day tourist. To take the photo, I lingered on a deck downstream from the bridge and waited for a group of tourists to stop and take in the surroundings. It was fun to people watch and see others enjoy our beautiful community!"
