Then & Now : A community photography exhibit connecting Ketchikan's past to the present through the recreation of historic photos
Title:
Bell Island Party
Description:
"On September 14, 2015, sixteen seasonal workers from Ketchikan went to Bell Island for an end of season trip. We didn't all know each other. We knew a bit about the history of the island, the hot springs, and the resort. The island is in a state of disrepair, some buildings seemed bombed out, some had only the windows damaged. During the two days we were there, we depended on each other, new friendships were made, old were strengthened. It was the trip of a lifetime. Everythingabsolutely everything went perfectly. On September 16th, before packing our things and climbing back into our float planes, we recreated a picture taken 109 years earlier on Bell Island. Looking at the recreation now, it brings chills and vivid memories. Our grandchildren will be shown this picture and hear the tale of #BellFest15. I can only imagine what the recreation of the recreation will look like in the year 2124." — Joey Rovinsky
