Then & Now : A community photography exhibit connecting Ketchikan's past to the present through the recreation of historic photos
Title:
On the Fence
Description:
"When Cheri (Pyles) first started this, she had no idea she had stumbled upon a family 'then & now'. She had no inkling that two of the children were related, several generations between them. To her they were just great photos. She knows many of the kids in the 'now' photo, but didn't know my son, Jonas, and didn't know that he had been friends with that bunch since birth. The five younger children in the 'now' photo were all born within in about six weeks of each other. She didn't know until she showed me the 'then' photo that Alfhild Olsen, born in 1923, is my son's great, great aunt. She was the first in her family to be born in Ketchikan. Jonas would be the 4th generation born in Ketchikan." — Jessica Wallin
