Description:
When World War II broke out, Saari enlisted in the Coast Guard and was assigned to Ketchikan. Years later, he returned and spent five years photographing construction projects such as the tunnel and the Ketchikan Pulp Mill. Saari landed a job as staff photographer at the Ketchikan Daily News. He stayed with the paper until 1966, moving on to the Ketchikan Pulp Mill before retiring in 1982.
