To ensure fast delivery of newspapers to Newtown and the West End during construction of the tunnel and the Water Street viaduct, the Ketchikan Daily News experimented with delivery by boat. Here, Pat Charles hands papers to Beverly Norris (in the skiff) at the Ryus Float.

In order to assure quick service to Newtown newsstands in case of an emergency, the Ketchikan Daily News will use a boat to deliver the papers. Loading ,papers aboard the boat yesterday on a trial run are Beverly Norris and Pat Charles at the Dock Street float."
