Totem Pole Retrieval: Man with Potlatch Hat on Bentwood Box
Jane Demmert
Dennis Demmert (right) and an unidentified worker secure protective strips of wood around a Haida memorial totem pole at Kasa'áan (Old Kasaan) in preparation to lower the pole during the 1970 totem pole retrieval project.
The totem pole depicts a man with his arms crossed, wearing a three-ringed potlatch hat, and sitting on a bentwood box. This memorial pole stood in Kasa'áan, behind a Yakulanas house.
