Memorial Pole: Eagle (or Thunderbird), Frog, Beaver, Humans
Kasa'áan (Old Kasaan)
Haida
Eagle (or Thunderbird) at the top of the pole is successful in its hunt, holding a salmon in its talons. Beneath it a frog holds an ornate bentwood box for storing valuable possessions. The beaver holds a chewing stick in its hands and is distinguished by a cross-hatched tail curved up under and on its chest. Peeking out over its tail is a baby beaver. The figures at the base of the pole are humans and are identified by their ears, which are located on the sides of their heads, and the presence of human arms and legs.
