This tunic is made with wool felt, leather, abalone and mother of pearl buttons, and seed beads. Carlson uses traditional formline design, but with bright and bold contrasting colors. This tunic was created during the Mixed-Level Regalia - Adult Vest or Tunic, or Child-sized Button Robe class taught by Aanchgwanutk, Janice L. Jackson, in 2023.

"I love to add colors. It brings me joy. I have respect for traditional colors and design and follow rules, I'm just creating new ones. My rule is that I use pink instead of red and purple instead of blue. That's where I start and from there, I experiment with what's pleasing to the eye. I'm very intentional in choosing my colors, font, and bead and button placement."
