This Ravenstail headband is made from merino wool and trimmed with sea otter fur. The design features a Chilkat braid finishing the bottom edge. The headband was created during the Introduction to Ravenstail Weaving class taught by Evelyn Vanderhoop in 2025.
"I wove this for my son, Jix̱eik', Greyson Noah. I had the lining of the headband done by someone more familiar with sewing — my mom L'axdujeek, Martha Narino-Torres.
This is my first woven headband. I wove it with all good intentions into it. I wove the headband with my kids and their future in mind. Each time I sat to work on it, I first thought of my family and culture — putting only positive things into the weaving.
The materials and design were all the instructor's recommendation, but it worked out and fit perfectly. I have been learning to weave for a few years and the majority of what I make goes to family and friends. I enjoy the craft very much.
