Then & Now : A community photography exhibit connecting Ketchikan's past to the present through the recreation of historic photos
Title:
Plane and Simple
Description:
The 1953 remodel of the Ketchikan Spruce Mills included the installation of a new planer. The mill started in 1903 to meet the need for lumber and fish packing boxes. Years later, another local business is meeting the needs of the community. "I started Tongass Forest Enterprises to add value to the local wood, employ people and keep capital in the community. This is a five head planer which will make thousands of different planed products. These products can be used to make additional products such as saunas, greenhouses, cabins, hot tubs and more. I established the company in 2003."
