Northwest Coast peoples not only created paddles to navigate the water, but also made ceremonial dance paddles. Paddles are traditionally carved from yellow cedar or pacific yew wood, as well as spruce, alder, and willow.
This carved and painted ceremonial dance paddle with painted Eagle design represents the artist's clan.
