Ravenstail Apron, 2014

Tiffany Vanderhoop
Haida

Haida weaver Tiffany Vanderhoop learned Ravenstail and Chilkat weaving from her mother, weaver and instructor Evelyn Vanderhoop, during a five-year apprenticeship and classes at the Totem Heritage Center. Tiffany is the great-granddaughter of master weaver Selina Peratrovich and the granddaughter of master weaver Delores Churchill, and her contemporary style infuses her heritage. The Ravenstail Apron is woven with Merino wool and edged in fur, and uses traditional geometric Ravenstail designs while incorporating Chilkat weaving techniques to create curves.

Purchase of this artwork has been made possible through the generous support of the Rasmuson Foundation Art Acquisition Fund.
