Dillon Warren, Owner and Captain of F/V Sunrise

The F/V Sunrise was built as a sardine seiner in 1939 by a Tacoma, Washington shipwright. The boat was squid fishing out of California before Dillon Warren bought the boat in 2015. Dillon grew up trolling and tendering with his family. He started as a deckhand and worked his way up to being captain. In the first season as the owner, Dillon ran the boat as a tender with his dad to learn the ropes. The 2016 season was his first year running the F/V Sunrise solo. He was 23. At the time of the interview, Dillon was in his fifth year as captain. Dillon remains one of the youngest captains in the fleet.
