Instructor Student Case 2020
Description:

Hla'ashg goak
Seaweed Basket, 2017

Cameron Kristen, Gganhaada (Raven Clan)
Tsimshian

This seaweed basket is made in the Tsimshian-style twining and open weaving techniques made of Red and yellow cedar.

"I am passionate about mental health awareness and finding who you are through learning your traditional language and arts. I wove this basket during a difficult time in my life, when I felt like my world was unraveling. My path to healing began with learning Shm'algyack, the Tsimshian language, with Ahl'lidaaw, Terri Burr, and learning to weave Tsimshian-style with Holly Churchill. I learned to weave while being surrounded by the art and language of my ancestors, an invaluable experience I will always cherish."
